“Obituary”

Tamika Shanté Williams was born on June 8, 1972 to Brenda Williams and Pete Wagner in

Detroit, MI. She was the oldest of two children to Brenda. Her younger sister is Jamie Alyce

Williams. She attended Hampton Elementary school at a young age, going there along with her

cousins who she considered her big brothers, in the inner city of Detroit. Tamika was the oldest

grand-daughter to Undean Stinson and the oldest niece to her uncle and aunts. As a child, she

accepted Jesus Christ in her life and was saved where she attended church, along with her family,

at Holy Ghost Temple Church of God in Christ, under the Pastorship of Elder James A. Sheridan.

As an avid church goer, she sang in the youth choir and acted in many of the plays performed at

the church.

Tamika attended Mumford High School in Detroit. The school was made famous by the actor/

comedian, Eddie Murphy, who wore Mumford’s burgundy and grey school letter-jacket

throughout his 1984 blockbuster movie, “Beverly Hills Cop.” She was extremely active at

Mumford as a member on the track team and the captain of the Dance Team. She was famously

known for her stellar performances in her dance routines, which included her portrayal of Janet

Jackson’s “Pleasure Principle” and “Control.” She wore her black, like Janet famously did, and

left the audiences in awe. She graduated in 1990 from Mumford High School.

Upon graduation, Tamika took upon the name, “Lady Lash,” when she pioneered the Eye Lash

Industry in Detroit, Mi. She was famously known throughout Detroit under this moniker as she

took Detroit by storm as the first person in Detroit to, not only perfect this craft, but create a

market for others to follow and excel in as well. Tamika did lashes and eyebrows excellently for

friends, family, steady clients, and the famous in and around Detroit.

Tamika left Detroit in 1992 for her first, but short, stint in California. She brought her eyelash

skills to the west coast and inspired others to bring it Los Angelos and throughout California.

She narrowly missed being a “Fly Girl” on the hit-television sow of the 90’s, “In Living Color”

when she prepped for a role as a dancer with the likes of actors like Jennifer Lopez. It was a

dream of hers to dance with the skills she developed and honed and bring it to Hollywood as a

star among stars. One thing all knew was that she never stopped dancing and she always loved

music.

She returned to Detroit and eventually met and married Tony Brookins. They had Tamika’s only

child, a daughter, Tamiya Alyce Brookins, on June 23, 1999.

In 2004, Tamika returned to live and stay in California, with her daughter, to live with her mom.

Tamiya started kindergarten there as Tamika began Nursing School at Summit College. She

graduated with her Nursing Degree in her cap and gown and surrounded by family. While

studying for her license, she decided to also attend a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Program.

She graduated from the program and began making a career as a CNA, while gaining experience

and courage for her license. She found that she actually enjoyed her career, where she stayed in

the profession of giving and helping others and gaining her beloved friends for over 15 years.

In 2017, Tamika met the love of her life, Joseph Day. He was a Californian native, Inglewoodbred

and the perfect match for Tamika. She dubbed him, the “Big Chief,” because of his smooth

ability to be in charge and lead the way, but also inspire the love she always had for him…as he

loved her passionately as well. They had a whirlwind romance, enjoying all the holidays,

especially Christmas, which was Tamika’s favorite holiday. Tamika’s family grew as he had

children and she had three grandchildren from her own daughter. In 2019, Joseph died,

unexpectedly, right before Christmas, and left Tamika distraught. However, Tamika moved

forward, focusing on her family and job. She was finally rethinking about and regaining her

courage to finally become a RN and study for her license again. As a CNA, she worked

tirelessly, working multiple shifts and getting focused on her next level. Her last night was after

she left her job after a long day and week and with thoughts of just relaxing for the night and the

following Sunday. On her road to her destination, God chose that moment to give her the final

rest on January 16, 2022.

As she moves on to receive her heavenly rewards as a believer and onward to her home to be

with God, she leaves her daughter: Tamiya; two grand-daughters: Taliah and Tahani; one grandson:

Tavarii; mom: Brenda Williams; sister: Jamie Williams; niece: Dakota Jefferson;

grandfather; Albert James Self; and a host of many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends to

celebrate her blessed life.
