Maurice Yvonne Pugh was born on August 28, 1937, in Cotton Plant, Arkansas to Lemuel and Bertha White. Graduating as the Salutatorian of her High School class in 1954, she later moved to Los Angeles, California. There, she married Ike Pugh Sr., and together, they raised two children over their 58-year union.
Initiating her medical career as a Nursing Assistant at Los Angeles General Hospital, Maurice continued her education earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from California State University Dominguez hills. Subsequently, she served the State of California as a Utilization Nurse. Following retirement, she took on the role of Lead Registered Nurse for the Compton School District.
Having embraced faith early on, Maurice was an active member of Greater New Unity Baptist Church and Citizen of Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles. Following her husband's passing in 2017, she relocated to Moreno Valley, California, joining Park Avenue Missionary Baptist Church in Riverside.
Maurice remained dedicated to each of these congregations, participating in various activities such as Mission Circle, Church Choir, Mission Choir, Mothers Board, and Church Health Nurse.
Beyond her professional and religious pursuits, Maurice found joy in bowling, engaging in leagues with long-time friends, traveling, and spending quality time with her family.
Maurice Yvonne Pugh peacefully transitioned to Glory, joining the Lord. Preceding her in death were her parents Lemuel and Berth White, husband Ike Pugh Sr., son Ike Pugh Jr. Brother Lemuel White Jr. and sister Ruth Brown.
She leaves behind cherished memories for her sister Brenda Pasiley (Henry), Son Jerry White (Mary), Grandchildren Janine Hayes, Desarae White, Jared White, Paris Callahan, and Ike Pugh III. Great-grandchildren Alaric Hayes III, Jerren White, Aiden Hayes. Additionally, Maurice is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
