He was born February 3, 1929 to Valeria Duarte and Juan Cardenas, in Los Angeles, CA.

On August 13, 1948 Edward was married 71 years to his beloved “Natie” Natividad Murillo who preceded him in death. They created a loving home for their 3 daughters Monica, Valerie and Bridget and their son Edward who preceded him in death.
He was blessed with 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 4 great- great grandsons.
In 1929 his family moved from Los Angeles to Barstow. Then in 1937 his family moved to San Bernardino.
Edward worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for a short time. He joined the US Army at the age of 17 years old during World War II serving time in Saipan. He became a shoe maker and later became a certified Master Shoe Rebuilder.
Edward enjoyed being a member of an organization called the Catholic War Veterans for over 25 years.
In his retirement he and his wife enjoyed volunteering in community programs. Serving Family Service Association senior lunch program receiving an award for “outstanding volunteer award.”
Also helping Community Action Partnership program with food distribution programs setting up food boxes for give away.
Edward enjoyed backyard gardening with his green thumb, giving away Fig tree starts to whoever dared to grow a Fig tree!
A visitation will occur Wednesday, December 6, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 570 East Highland Ave, San Bernardino, CA 92404. A funeral service for Edward will be held Wednesday, December 6, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Mt. View Mortuary & Cemetery, 570 East Highland Ave, San Bernardino, CA 92404. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, December 6, 2023 from 12:15 PM to 1:00 PM, 570 East Highland Ave, San Bernardino, CA 92404.
