Barbara Jean Goldstein-Gerwig passed away peacefully on July 3, 2015. Born in Paola, Kansas on March 23, 1923 Barbara led a long, colorful and full life. In 1963 she moved to San Bernardino, California from Falls Church, Virginia with her husband Philip N. Goldstein and a family of four. Barbara and Philip were married for 49 years until his passing in June 1993. She was a long time member of Immanuel Baptist Church were she played in the bell choir. Barbara was also an involved community member and gave of her time to help others through the San Bernardino Chapter of National Charity League. She both volunteered and worked in San Bernardino City Unified School District for over 49 years. Following her retirement from employment in the schools in the 1980s, she continued to work with students by sharing her love of music as a docent in the San Bernardino Symphony Guild's Music in the Schools Program. Barbara also played piano as part of the annual Guild's Home Tour. In 2003 Barbara married Richard Gerwig and continued to travel and enjoy life with Jim until his passing on July 4, 2012. Known for her wry wit and adventurous spirit her legacy will live on through her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her husbands Philip N. Goldstein and Richard Gerwig precede Barbara in death. Surviving family includes; Roger Goldstein and his wife Kathy, Ronald Goldstein and his wife Jinny, Kirk Crain Goldstein and his wife Tammy and Barbara Richardson and her husband Jim. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
