And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”
To all that knew my mother Barbara Flick loved her very much! She was an awesome and loving mom. My mother who made her 80th birthday June 19, 2018 was a devote Catholic and went to Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral where she read every Saturday at Mass along with teaching the young children how to pray the rosary! My mother prayed with myself to accept Christ as her Lord and Savior a couple of months ago, and it was surreal!
Barbara was a widow twice, with myself as her only princess along with 4 beautiful grandchildren, Elaina (her munchkin) 32, Steven (her tiger) 28, Brett (her bandit) 21, and Hailee (her bunny) 16. One beautiful great granddaughter, Harmony (her tinker belle) 13.
My mother has a surviving sister Frances Soulam and a surviving brother Barton Holcomb.
Barbara during her lifetime has always taking care of myself and her grandchildren the best she could by prayer by praise by love by whatever way she could possibly uplift. My mom was supervisor of dispatchers for 35 years with the California Highway Patrol in Los Angeles and San Bernardino County. After she retired she decided to still work so she proceeded to become a phlebotomist and work in records of phlebotomy department of community Hospital of San Bernardino for 26 years. Along with working those jobs, Barbara also made time to work with KVCR and donate a lot of time with them, she took on working at Chevron gas station for a while and among everything else, attended her church Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral faithfully, along with donating her time as much as needed with the church. Barbara was ordained an Eucharistic minister and assisted with bereavement services, teaching young ones how to the Rosary and providing communion to home bound members.
Barbara spent her life doing whatever she could to help many many people, she LOVED her babies (I.e. her animals very much; Lucky who she found at Stater Brothers, Max who was given to her when her other dog had passed away, and Sammy who was brought to her by myself, her daughter Gina. Along with three cats; Selina, Pumpkin and Cal Leah) She would always comment my animals will take care of me.
Barbara was committed to sending cards to her family and almost everyone she knew, Birthday, Christmas, Easter, Anniversary, Valentine’s Day, even cards to say “I love you”.
My mom in the past couple of years was diagnosed with the beginnings of dementia where she started to forget certain things she also had some back issues that would make her equal Librium very wobbly. Within the past couple of months she had fallen and gone to the hospital, did rehabilitation for approximately four weeks came home and she was doing well, until three weeks ago she couldn’t move and I had to take her back to the hospital. My mother indicated she did not want to go to a nursing home she wanted to come home to her babies her three dogs and three cats that she loved very very very much and she told me if she were going to go to heaven it was going to be in her own home. Praise the Lord that the Lord allowed her wish to come to pass.
I myself have been visiting my mother every other day since her time in the rehabilitation program making sure that she was taking her medication and she was doing OK; everything seemed to be OK
On July 6 at approximately 10 AM, I arrived to bring my mom her clean clothes and make sure that her medication was addressed properly only to find that she had passed away peacefully in her bed reading one of her favorite books Ellery Queen.
My mom had good insurance through CHP, unfortunately a few years back it went to Blue Cross Medicare which still was very good insurance however certain things that have been arising can be scary and truthfully overwhelming, The daily care of myself coming down back-and-forth, I believe that the Lord will provide all my needs and help me through this process, if you decide to gift, I want you to know that I truly thank you now from the bottom of my heart! God Bless
Revelation 21:4
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
