Born in Texas on March 27th, 1950. Married his First wife, Brigitte Ortega who was Andy's rock; loved by everyone, an amazing woman, and mother of his 4 children. They met while he served in the Army while in Germany. Brigitte passed away in 1998. Andy was then very blessed to have his loving wife and friend, M Angelica Ortega, who stayed by his side and never left his side from the beginning.
Not only does he leave behind his Negra, but along with his 3 Sisters (Gina, Gracie & Lucy), 2 brothers (Robert & Louie), 3 sons David Ortega from Texas, Richard Ortega from San Bernardino. And a son who passed away in Germany, Salvador Ortega, his Daughter Victoria Rodriguez lives in San Bernardino, adopted daughter Johnna Martinez lives in San Bernardino, 11 Grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren, not to forget his other brothers & sisters in Monterey, friends who respected him, and those who adopted him as their POPs and OPA .
Andy Ortega served in the United State's Army for 17 years. Retired as a correctional Officer from Chino State Prison. Dedicated his life to serve God and teach his word as a Deacon of The New Apostle Church, and a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed his last days at home with his wife and family.
He liked hosting for his Family and Friends, Playing dominos, playing card games, Eating good food, especially his bread, his rum and diet coke and listening to music while he danced all night. He enjoyed watching football, especially when His Ram's were playing. And if it wasn't American football it was el futbol, Soccer. He loved when we all got together, those were some of his proudest moments when together at church on time. Whether it was for breakfast, to church, for birthdays, at special occasions/events, traveling, for the holidays, if you invited him he would show face and be there. I don't think he ever missed a Birthday card or a Christmas card that he personally hand written to you. He loved being greeted by hugs, to the kids who will miss his money tricks, treats of gummy bears and pistachios. He will be truly remembered for all the fussing about everything and anything, keeping you prepared not to mess up around him because he would never let you forget it... especially if you were late to church or didn't show up to church even when he didn't go, or if you happen to park your car in his parking spot. He would wait in his car until you moved it. Even if you bumped his car with the ball or bike or moved his wheelchair, cause it was not in the right spot. He would find a way to give you a hard time no matter what. His house was always open to anyone in need, or asking for help. His doors were always open, and he answered every phone call. He was the man who wanted everyone to do good, and succeed in life. We would not be who we are without him. That is our Opa!
