She had a beautiful warm and generous spirit. Born in Austin, Texas, during an inspiring time, Yolanda graduated from Austin High School at the age of 16. She attended Nixon Clay College for a time and left Austin after she married to join her husband in Puerto Rico. During their military life, she enjoyed many friends and the discovery of worlds she had not known before. Her entire life was devoted to her family and friends. Her heart was one of hospitality—cooking, entertaining, and making everyone comfortable at her home. She never met a stranger. Her passion was Christmastime—décor, food, gifts, and holiday spirit. She loved her parents, her sons, her siblings, and friends. Her goal in life was to make memorable times for her family. At the end of her life, she joined a group of Christians to serve Christ—she had a newfound love of Jesus. Yolanda was reared at the Emmanuel Methodist Church in Austin. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. A.B. Perez, sister Omega Kennard, brothers-in-law Barron Kennard and Ken Greene. Yolanda is survived by her sons Joe Correa and wife Yvonne, Jeff Correa, grandchildren, Michael Correa and wife Berenice, Ashley Munguia and husband Joe, Megan Hare and husband Dominic; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters, Margot Perez Greene, Rachel Ruiz and Marilyn Lacobee; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera road, San Antonio, Texas, 78238 on Friday, September 9, 2022 beginning at 1:00 P.M. A Celebration of Life service to begin at 2:00 P.M.
