Wanda Marie McDougle entered eternal rest January 10, 2011 after an extended illness. She was born November 3, 1926 in Jasonville, IN. Childhood was spent on the family farm in rural Indiana. After a high school job working the switchboard for a medical clinic, she fell in love with nursing. She received her nurse’s training at St. Barnabas Hospital, affiliated with the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Once she graduated and received her nursing license, she was declared an officer and a gentleman by an Act of Congress, and entered the Army as a Lieutenant. Wanda spent ten years in the Army and separated from the military after she met her beloved husband, Dr. Robert Neff McDougle. Ron and Wanda met on Christmas Day 1957. Ron said it was love at first sight and married Wanda five months after meeting her. They spent 50 wonderful years together in San Antonio where they reared their four children and doted on their nine grandchildren. Wanda was devoted to her husband and her children. Ron preceded Wanda in death and was waiting to usher her to Heaven. Wanda is survived by her children, Ronda Scott (Craig), Mary McDougle, Vicku Teten (John), Richard McDougle (Lisa); grandchildren, Brian Scott (Jill), Aaron Scott, Beau Devine, Paul Homburg IV, Patrick, Jason, Wendy, Laura Teten, Elizabeth McDougle; brother, Martin Goshorn of Bloomington, IN; sister, Zona Cafferata of Juno, AK. A Memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 17, 2011 at John Calvin Presbyterian Church, 8102 Midcrown, 78239, with Reverend Malcolm McQueen, officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Sunset Memorial Park.Arrangements under the direction of Sunset Funeral Home, San Antonio, TX.
