Tino Lopez Jr.

It is with great sadness to announce that Tino Lopez Jr. passed away on October 6th, 2020. He is preceded in death by his mother, Teodora. He is survived by his father, Juventino Tellez Lopez Sr.; brother, Andrew Lopez; sister, Corina Gonzales; sister, Tina Lopez (Martin Rodriguez); a nephew, Augustine Gonzales IV (Amanda); a niece, Gabrielle Teodora Gonzales (Stephen Leos); two great-nieces; and his triplets: Angela Ramos, Marina, and Christine.

Tino was a prime example of being a genuine person. Tino made an impact on many people he met throughout his life. He was a son, a brother, an uncle, a loved one, a friend, and a mentor. Tino enjoyed life and the connections he met along the way. Tino was born on June 18th, 1959, in Laredo, Texas. He was raised in a military family that instilled a sense of love and loyalty that carried him through his decisions and actions he made throughout his life. Tino’s work at his family restaurant through most of his life made him appreciate the culinary arts. He had an expensive palette. He knew what good food tasted like, and he could recognize the quality of the food the moment he tasted it. He loved conversing about food and the process of making any cuisine.

Tino had a passion for his extracurricular activities. He dabbled in real estate and had a curiosity for business. He loved to golf, and enjoyed playing in a recreational Softball league. He coached his nephew’s Little League Baseball team: yet, his main passion was pool. Tino relished in being captain of his pool team, Slow N Steady. He enjoyed teaching players the art of pool. Tino loved to compete and he accomplished his goal of playing in the National Championships in Las Vegas. As a team captain, he was proud of all of the successes his players had in and out of the pool league.

Although he loved to compete, his main priority was to enjoy the meaningful friendships he made along the way. Tino was the type of person who was compassionate and loved every chance to sit and talk with anyone. He was caring, kind-hearted, and giving. He was always willing to listen and give wise advice. He had a jokester personality and a genuine heart. Everyone will remember Tino Lopez Jr: as a family member, teacher, competitor, and most of all, friend.

A Visitation for Tino will be held on Friday, October 16, 2020, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 5919 Ingram Road, San Antonio, Texas, 78228. A Rosary service will occur from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., followed by a Mass at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, Texas, 78218.
