Thomas "Tom" Doctor, 77, of San Antonio, TX, peacefully passed away on September 16, 2022. He was born in Greeley, Colorado to Donald and Margaret Doctor, Tom was an athletic and popular boy. Tom was fiercely passionate about his love of Christ and his family from the start and dedicated his life to both his pursuit of Christian Service and his family. After he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree, Tom landed his first job as a teacher and coach and played semi-professional baseball as a pitcher. He pitched against the famous Reggie Jackson and others and even declined two offers to play professional baseball because he didn’t want to be away from his family. He ultimately ended up being an excellent appraiser holding the highest designation of MAI. Tom met his wife Joyce in high school and went on to have 2 children, Tina and Sean. Tom put family first, always, and was a dedicated father. His children went on to pursue careers in biotechnology and holistic health. Tom was a strong, kind, loving, and supportive father. His knowledge and guidance was the foundation of his family. Tom was also passionate about Jesus and serving others. He was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it.
Tom was preceded in death by his father, Donald Doctor; and mother, Margaret Doctor.
He leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Joyce Doctor: daughter, Tina Peterson; son, Sean Doctor; sister, Georganne Hutchison; 6 grandchildren; and 1 great-granddaughter.
The private family only graveside will be on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at Sunset Memorial Park.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 4:00 p.m., Saturday, October 1, 2022 at the Tower City Church, 11220 Perrin Beitel, San Antonio, TX 78217.
