Born in Columbus, Ohio on October 29, 1946 to Paul E. Askins and Ruth I. Askins. He is preceded in death by his mother Ruth, father Paul and stepmother Nancy.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 22 years Margaret, stepson Justin Shively (Nicole), sisters Cherry Buckley (Stephen) and Becky Potts, and many dear friends including Carl Fry, Dick Wenzell and Roger Elsom (more like brothers) who provided enormous support to Margaret and Terry throughout his long battle.
Terry graduated from Westerville High School Westerville, Ohio. He then served in the U. S. Air Force as a staff sergeant from 1965 to 1973. He attended college at Oklahoma University in Norman, Oklahoma and graduated with a degree in Corporate Law. He spent the majority of his working career with the Office of Disability Adjudication and Review for the Social Security Administration in San Antonio, Texas retiring in 2014.
Terry was an avid reader and enjoyed the game of golf. Especially with his "brothers in crime" who met in Florida every spring for the past 25 years to play. Terry was a good man and will be sorely missed by those who knew him and those who loved him.
A public visitation will be held Sunday, August 28, 2022 from 6:00pm- 8:00pm at Sunset Funeral Home at 1701 Austin Hwy San Antonio, Texas 78218. Funeral services will be celebrated Thursday, September 8, 2022 at 9:45am at Sunset Funeral Home with the Interment to immediately follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery with The United States Air Force rendering funeral honors promptly at 11:15am.
