  Sylvia's absence has been painfully obvious to all of us at Steele Elementary. I see her name and handwritting in grade level notebooks and it makes me stop and stare. We all miss you Sylvia.

to the families of mrs. mendoza,. she was my teacher in first grade and last year too.  she was the best teacher i ever had.  i love her. i will miss her very much.  i hope her family feels comfort in knowing that she will be missed by many, even by those you haven't met.  i know Jehovah God will resurrect her and i can't wait to see her beautiful smile again.

To the Mendoza/Longoria Family, My Heartfelt prayers are with you. I will never forget what a great,wonderful friend I had in her many,many years ago growing up together in Pearsall. I am sure Heaven was thrilled when she arrived. I just wish I would have had an opportunity to say goodbye. What I will always remember is that one day she told me she was not afraid to pass away for she knew where she was going.

I went to school with Sylvia in Pearsall many years ago. When I heard of her passing, my thoughts were taken back to  a beautiful, sweet, young lady with a truly unforgettable smile.She will be truly missed.  May the Lord be with her families thru this sad time in your lives.

Sylvia was an outstanding woman, wife, mother and teacher. I was blessed to have known her when I was assigned to monitor her first graders during breakfast. She loved her family. I met Sylvia at Steele Elementary.  I can honestly tell you that she was a teacher with a big heart and her passion to educate and bring positive change in a child's life was evident to the student and to their parent.  I was the secretary at Steele and at the end of each year parents' would place a call to the school requesting their child be placed in their favorite teachers classroom, "Mrs. Mendoza's classroom".  When I resigned last year, Sylvia was one of the first to email me to tell me she was proud that I had decided to continue with my education.  Sylvia touched my heart with her words of encouragement.  I will forever be grateful for our friendship.  My prayers and deepest condolences are with you.  God bless.
