Suzanne Barrett Gossett Owen, age 95, passed away on November 8, 2013, in San Antonio, TX. She was born on October 19, 1918, to William and Goldie Gossett. She was an extraordinary wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be dearly missed. A longtime San Antonio resident and retired Alamo Heights educator, Mrs. Owen was a talented textile artist, gifted with knitting needles and an accomplished bridge player. She was a world traveler with a special love for Italy. An intelligent, humorous and elegant matriarch who was intensely proud of her family, she was known as "Gigi" to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mrs. Owen was preceded in death by her husband, William Austin Owen, her parents and sister, Marion Miller.
She is survived by her daughters, Lynn Old and husband John, Karen Sykes and husband Robert; grandsons, Dr. William Old, Andrew Old, James Sykes, Dr. John Sykes and Dr. Matthew Old; twelve great grandchildren; sister Jean Gaines and four nieces and nephews.
The private graveside service will be held Saturday, November 16, 2013.
