Santos "Pinky" Garza

Santos “Pinky” Garza, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, entered rest on November 18, 2014 at the age of 66. Pinky was a native of San Antonio, born to Santos and Rafaela Mendoza on October 21, 1948. She was the 4th of 9 children. She married at the age of 17 and at age 21 was preceded in death by her husband, left to raise their 4 children: Irene, Francisco, Marcelina, and Delia Garza. She was the rock of her family, raising 4 children on her own, which was not easy but she managed without assistance. She loved and helped many people, without judgment. Pinky was an amazing woman with strength, integrity and a generous heart who always opened her home to those in need and could stay as long as needed. She possessed many fine qualities that have now been passed to her children and no words would ever be enough to describe our wonderful Mother! She is survived by her children: son, Francisco Garza; daughters: Irene G. Yanez and husband Facundo Yanez, Marcelina Garza-Gonzales and husband Bennie A. Gonzales, Delia G. Salinas (late husband Jesse Robert Salinas); grandchildren: Vanessa I Salazar, Virginia I Roth (Kyle R. Roth), Jessica N. Salinas, Ben Gonzales Jr. Alejandra D. Garza, Jesse R. Salinas III, Francisco Garza III, Jacob Salinas, Facundo Fredrico Yanez and Sicily N. Yanez; great –grandchildren, Kyle Richard Roth, Jr.; sibilings : Jesus A. Mendoza, Juana Montalvo, John David Mendoza, and Martica Rico; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by siblings, Guadalupe Rodulfo, Rogelio Mendoza, Virginia Martinez, and Samuel Mendoza. The family will receive friends at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. A funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 7:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 26, 2014 to celebrate a 9:00 a.m. Mass at St. Jude’s Catholic Church.
