Ruth B. Gallegos, born on February 14, 1939, in San Antonio, Texas, to Maximo and Juanita Barrientos passed away peacefully on December 7, 2024. A cherished member of her community, Ruth's warmth and spirit touched the lives of many.
Ruth dedicated herself to organizations throughout her life, she served as a Guadalupana at Immaculate Conception, where she actively contributed to her church community. Throughout her professional career, she held positions at Zimberg’s Furniture Store, where she set payment plans, was a Customer Service Representative at Alamo Funeral Home, and worked in Logistics at Kelly Air Force Base.
Among her many hobbies and interests, Ruth loved traveling with her beloved husband; Abraham, to out-of-town baseball tournaments, where her encouragement fueled his passion for the game. She was a talented seamstress, known for crafting cheerleading uniforms for both Edgewood Jr. and Kennedy High School. Ruth's culinary skills brought joy to her family, as her cooking was nothing short of amazing. Above all, she took pride in caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, filling their lives with love and guidance.
Ruth was preceded in death by her father, Maximo Barrientos; mother, Juanita Barrientos; husband, Abraham M. Gallegos II; daughter, Mary Jane Davila; son-in-law, Richard Davila; and sister, Juanita Rodriguez.
She is survived by her son, Abraham B. Gallegos III (Silvia); daughter, Gerrie Balderas (Richard); and sister, Lupie Padilla. Ruth's legacy lives on through her grandchildren: Mona Finnegan (Michael), Abraham Gallegos IV (Nicole), Nikki Gomez (Rene), Maximo Davila (Rachel), Stephen Davila (Lisa), Christopher Davila (Mayra), Jonathan Davila (Clarissa), Andrew Balderas, Krystyne Martinez, and Mathew Balderas. She also leaves behind a beautiful family of great-grandchildren: Brianna, Lilly, Olivia Abraham, Eden, Aiyden, Isabel, Richard, Adrian, Angie, Julia, Stephanie, Ashley, Jameson, CJ, Delilah, Elijah, Josiah, Lina, Dylan and Brendan, as well as great-great-grandchildren Benjamin and Eliana.
A Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 18, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Road, San Antonio, Texas 78237, with a Rosary officiated by Deacon Wayne Archer at 6:00 pm. On Thursday, December 19, 2024 everyone will meet at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 5919 Ingram Rd, San Antonio, TX 78228, at 9:15am for a 10:00 am Mass of the Resurrection officiated by Rev. Eric Ritter at 10:00 AM, we will then proceed to San Fernando Cemetery II, 746 Castroville Road, San Antonio, Texas 78237 for burial.
Ruth B. Gallegos will be forever remembered for her countless contributions to her family and community, and her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who loved her. Rest in peace, dear Ruth.
