Rudy was born on November 28, 1940, in San Antonio, TX, to Manuel and Dolores de la Cruz. He attended Little Flower Catholic Church for his primary education and later attended Fox Tech High School. Rudy remained devout Catholic throughout his life, attending Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine.
Rudy pursued a career as an Exterminator, where his expertise and hard work left a lasting impact, earning him the nickname “Rudy Roach” among his friends and neighbors. Rudy loved music, dancing and most of all fishing in the Gulf of Mexico. Rudy had a great sense of humor and always made people laugh, a trait he passed on to many of his family members.
Rudy will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his surviving loved ones: former wife Delia Reyes; children David de la Cruz, Yvonne Ramirez, Jose Rodolfo de la Cruz; daughter-in-laws Wendy Strait and Melissa Pompa-de la Cruz; sister Norma Sanchez; brother Manuel de la Cruz Jr.; grandchildren David de la Cruz II, Alejandro de la Cruz, Andrea Zdazenski, Renee Buchanan, Emma Ramirez, Grace Ramirez, Xavier Ramirez, Brooks Strait de la Cruz; great-grandchildren Salvador, Lucille, Damien, Elizabeth; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
He is now reunited in heaven with his parents, Manuel and Dolores de la Cruz, brother Armando de la Cruz, and sister Yolanda Galvan. His love for his family and friends will forever be cherished by those who knew him. May he rest in peace.
There will be a Visitation for "Rudy" held Wednesday, June 26, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with the Rosary being recited at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Road, San Antonio, TX 78237. On Thursday, June 27, 2024 we will be going in procession for a 10:00 a.m. Mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine, 1321 El Paso St, San Antonio, TX 78207.
