Ruben Guzman, our beloved husband, and father went home to be with our Holy Lord on January 12, 2014 at the age of 86. A native of San Antonio, he was born on June 16, 1927 to Andres S. and Esther Guzman. He was preceded in death by his parents; two younger sisters, Eva and Paula. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rebecca Cantu Guzman; daughters, Rebecca Joan Shires (Graham) of San Antonio, TX, and Janis Ann Guzman of Houston, TX; grandson, Christian Deleon of Houston, TX; brother, Andrew Guzman Jr. (Helen); and several nieces and nephews. He enlisted in the U. S. Navy at age 17 upon graduating from Fox Tech High School and served during WWII and the Korean conflict. He also served on the USS Atlanta during his Navy stint. He continued serving his country with civil service at Kelly AFB for 34 years, retiring as a supervisor from the Jet Propulsion Systems Test Cell in 1984. He was a member from La Trinidad Methodist Church and Galvan Revivals Ministry before becoming a caregiver to his disabled wife. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #2. He enjoyed watching sports as he was an avid fan of the San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Cowboys, and Texas Longhorns. He was a good and faithful man to his wife and family and very patriotic in serving his country. He was a happy person who gave a smile to everyone he met, made many friends with his quick wit and jokes. He enjoyed life to the fullest putting the Lord, his country & his family as top priority. He will be truly missed, but he’s enjoying the sweet life in heaven with our Holy Father and is now our Guardian Angel. We Love you Daddy, until we meet again.
