Ruben Castro

Ruben Castro was born November 28, 1955 in San Antonio, Texas to Leonarda Trejo and Nasario Castro as the oldest son. Ruben attended Lee High School (now Legacy of Educational Excellence) and graduated in 1974. He studied at PanAm University, now UT – Rio Grande Valley, and soon begin his career at Delta Airlines. He worked as a ticket agent at Delta for ~30 years and then worked for American Airlines for 10 years until his retirement in 2019. During his childhood, Ruben loved sports, specifically football. He would cry each time his favorite sports team, the Dallas Cowboys, lost a game. Everyone knew him as the biggest Cowboys fan, and he would devote every Sunday of the fall season to football. Ruben also loved singing and dancing, though not particularly good, but the sounds of 60s, disco and 80s music was always playing. Ruben enjoyed going to Disney world and traveling to Las Vegas, New York City or anywhere his family may be. He also could be found eating three to four tacos plus menudo at Tommy’s Restaurant.

Ruben passed away June 5, 2020. He was 64 years old. Ruben is proceeded in death by his mom, Leonarda Castro. He is survived by his father Nasario Castro, his beloved partner Lupe (Lulu) Valdez, daughters Bianca and Gabriella Castro and his siblings Juanita, Chayo, David and Daniel.

A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at 10 a.m. at NorthRock Church with a reception to follow at the family residence.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks if you are able to, please donate to the JDRF, a leading global organization funding diabetes research in memorial of Ruben Castro.
