Dr. Roy Nelson Tucker was born on August 12,1941 in LaGrange, Georgia. He passed away in San Antonio, Texas on December 27, 2020 at the age 79. He was preceded in death by parents Henry and Katherine Tucker and by his son, David Tucker.
Dr. Roy Tucker is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Sharon Tucker, daughter Cheryl Johnson, his son Obie B. Jones (Rhonda), sisters Brenda Gordon and Barbara Dorminey (Gary), brother Hank Tucker (Christy); grandchildren Halee Bacon (Tyler), Stefanee Styles, Christian Styles, Addison Styles, Emma Styles, Tanner Sorno and many great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at Alamo Heights Christian Church, San Antonio, Texas on Monday January 11, 2021 at 12:00 noon, by Pastor Lisa Harbert. Interment will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at 2:15pm.
Dr. Roy Tucker was consummate student attaining 3 and a half doctorates and was working on his fourth in Math/Ed when he became ill. As a student of Mercer University in Macon, Georgia he pledged Sigma Nu Fraternity. While at the US Military Academy at West Point, he played football on the Army team. He was a Number One Fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Georgia Bulldogs. He loved teaching and preaching the Word of God. He preached his first sermon when he was only 12 years old while working on a merit badge in Scouting. He pastored many churches around Texas as a minister for 50 years. He became a Master Mason at Helotes Masonic Lodge #1429. In spite of his heavy work schedule and commitments, he always found time for his family and friends.
He will be greatly missed by so many.
