Ronald Lane Toms

Ronald Lane Toms completed his journey at home on December 24 in Bulverde Texas. Ron was born on 11/20/39 to Henry Grady Toms and Mary Phadra Toms in Spring Hill, LA, the youngest of seven children. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, his older brother Cecil, four older sisters Bitty, Rachel, Pat, and Faye and his daughter, Ronda.. He is survived by his wife Mary Fances Toms, 6 children and their spouses, 15 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, his sister Ruth Milam and many loved nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ron served his country honorably with 10 years in the US Air Force. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Nebraska with a degree in business, but always had great affinity for LSU. He forged his career in hospital administration and he and Mary Frances owned and operated three nursing facilities in Blanco County caring for the elderly for over 45years.

Ron was a modern-day renaissance man with too many interests to count. He was humble, kind and sweetly stubborn. We loved him for all that he was. In his younger years he was a passionate scratch golfer, avid coin collector, amateur astronomer and wannabe weatherman. As the family expanded he and Mary Frances purchased Two Bow Ranch where the entire family could gather as often as possible. His love of weather patterns aided his transition to full time rancher, which included his "pet" herd of buffalo, digging for arrowheads, clearing/burning cedar (with bonus points if the fire department showed up), late night poker games, and just enjoying the land with friends and family alike. He especially enjoyed his time with the family (mostly his bride and the grand kids), exploring, teaching, and relaxing, with his best time reserved for hikes and evening drives with just himself and Mary Frances.

Ron was ever the optimist; always positive on good outcomes, always seeing the good in people, and always with a kind word about anybody. He leaves behind many, many good and loving friends and business colleagues. He also leaves a large family who adored him, genuinely liked to be with him, and loved him deeply. He was a good person, a Godly man, and a faithful family man. He will be sorely missed.

A private family gravesite gathering will be held January 6th in San Antonio, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you go spend those dollars on something fun or someone who needs a hand!
