Ronald Keith McCauley, M.D. beloved husband, father, was called to his eternal home by the Lord on Monday, March 25, 2013 at the age of 64. He was born to Virgil and Mildred (nee Daugherty) McCauley on October 6, 1948 in Chariton, Iowa. He graduated from Simpson College with a B.A. He then earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University Of Iowa College of Medicine, followed by a Diagnostic Radiology Residency at Brooke Army Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston and a fellowship in Nuclear Medicine. While serving 8 years the U. S. Army, Ron reached the rank of Major. He was appointed Chief of Nuclear Medicine in Frankfurt, Germany and Consultant to the Surgeon General in Nuclear Medicine for the U. S. Army European Forces. After practicing radiology for over 20 years, Ron was elected as a “Distinguished Fellow” by the American College of Nuclear Medicine.
Ron had a quick mind, curious nature and a passion for learning. He was a man of integrity, honesty, and loyalty to his family and friends. Ron had a great sense of humor and dry wit which filled our home with laughter. He will be remembered as a kind and compassionate man to all who knew him. But Ron’s true passion in life was his incredible children, Mark and Melanie. They were truly his greatest gift to the world and his ultimate source of pride and joy. No moment of his life was wasted with them! He gave them a legacy of faith in God, close family bonds, high educational endeavor, and the ethics of hard work and endurance. We will cherish our wonderful memories and forever be grateful that God blessed us in sharing his life. Though he is gone from our sight, he remains in our hearts. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Shirley McCauley and niece, Vonna Brown. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Gloria McCauley; son, Dr. Mark McCauley and wife Amy; daughter, Dr. Melanie McCauley; granddaughter, Gabriella McCauley; brothers, Larry McCauley and Robert McCauley and his wife Dorothy; sisters, Marilyn Fletchal and Carolyn Verde; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
