He was born in San Antonio, Texas on June 6, 1935 to father, Telesforo Peña, and mother, Enriquetta Garcia Almaraz. Roger spent many years working to provide a wonderful life for his family. His career as an electrician started at the Post Exchange on Fort Sam Houston Army Base. He then moved to Kelly Air Force Base where he retired. Since he was not ready for full retirement, he continued to work at the Methodist Hospital. When Roger finally retired full-time, he had time to enjoy spending time with Carmen, his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his favorite hobbies of working in his workshop and going hunting.
Roger leaves behind his beautiful wife of 67 years, Carmen, along with his son Ronald Peña and his wife Sharon; their daughters, Ashley (Luis) Orozco, Amanda (Chris) Hawthorne and Alyssa (Marc) Smith; his daughter Rosalind Johnson and her husband Clark, their son Matthew and daughter Ella. Roger, better known as “Lito,” leaves behind seven great-grandchildren; Ryan, Maggie, Kinsey, Ruby, Bodhi, Maisey, and “Chuck.”
He is preceded in death by his parents and younger brother, Dr. Rudolph Almaraz and he is survived by Mrs. Betty Almaraz, his sister-in-law, and their family.
Roger will be missed by all his family and many dear friends. We are grateful for the years Roger shared with us and look forward to seeing him again.
