Beloved brother, uncle, cousin and friend Rodolfo “Rudy” Torres was called home to the Lord on Friday, February 12, 2016 at the age of 76. Rudy led a very fulfilled and accomplished life. He proudly served our country in the US Army, Airborne Division, earning a Purple Heart. After the military, Rudy was a dedicated employee for the City of San Antonio Parks and Recreation for 35 years, while actively pursuing a Bachelors of Arts degree as well as Bachelors of Business Administration, Finance degree. He was a firm believer in continuing education and was currently a student at UTSA. Rudy was industrious, enterprising and successfully owned and operated several businesses including insurance sales, real estate brokerage, tax return preparation, notary public.
Rudy is preceded in death by his mother, Inez Martinez and father Jose Antonio Torres. He is survived by sisters, Mary C. Torres, Elvira Torres Critchley and husband Brian, Adelphia Sisson and husband Steve; nieces Yvette Garcia Mendoza, Miranda Critchley and Marie Radtke, nephews Matthew Critchley, Christopher Critchley, Joshua Smith and numerous other relatives.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will take place at 12:00 p.m. Friday, February 19, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Timothy Tate officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
