At a young age, Roberto worked shining shoes in downtown San Antonio. Despite his humble beginnings, he was able to grow into a Master Carpenter. He also served as a member of The Carpenters Local Union #14 from 1966-1985. His greatest accomplishment in his career was to be the general foreman for some of the major projects around the city of San Antonio. Some of those projects included, La Mansion del Rio and University Hospital. The biggest project was the Tower of the Americas which started construction in 1966 and completed in 1968. He worked for Henry C Beck, Zachry Construction Company, Darrash & Lyda, Joeris & Clouse. After years of experience in other companies, he started his own business Robert’s Carpentry. Where his talents are to this day featured in the homes of many family, friends and customers in and around San Antonio.
Roberto loved to go hunting and fishing. He especially cherished family time. His joy was having family all together laughing and having a good time. Roberto was also a man of God. As a child he served as an altar boy at Immaculate Heart of Mary. He was a member of St Henry's Catholic Church where he was involved with the Athletic Association, Men’s club, Holy Name and he was Co-Chair for the 7th parish coalition C.O.P.S. He attended the International Association of Facilitators in New York to train as an organizer.
Roberto met the love of his life, Beatriz, at Joel C Harris (Rabbit Ramblers) Middle School in the 5th grade. During his time at Joel C. Harris Middle School he played football, basketball, ran track and was on the swim team. Roberto was an amazing athlete, he played baseball for the City Team and he excelled as a swimmer.
Roberto the last pillar of the Mauricio Family will be reunited in heaven with his parents, Dolores and Martin Mauricio; siblings, Rosa Estrada, Paula Montalvo, Consuelo Mauricio, Martin Mauricio Jr, Valente Mauricio, Andres Mauricio, Jimmy Mauricio, Mike Mauricio, and Antonia Mauricio.
His memory will forever live on in the love of his life of 61 years, Beatriz H. Mauricio; children, Margarita Hernandez (Luis), Yolanda Mauricio, Anita Mauricio, Robert Mauricio Jr, and Delia Kelley and all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
