He is preceded in death by his son, James Robert; daughter, Laura Ann Perez; step-son, Raymond; and grand-daughter, Rhiannon.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great-great grandfather.
He was survived by his loving wife, Teresa R. Martinez; children, Robert Jr. (Diane), Johnny Eloy (Mary Ann), Jane (Mark), and Joanne (Kenny); step-children, Paul, Jimmy (Rachel), Abel (Sheila), and Rebecca; 20 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; as well as other family members and friends.
He loved helping others and was a giving man, especially with his gifted handcrafted wood work. Robert would donate his handcrafted woodwork to the Lions Field Adult and Senior Center. He will be deeply missed.
The family would like to especially thank Signal Hospice Care, M. Paul Regan, RN and Chaplain Clark R. Davis alongside with volunteered Chaplain Jorge Guajardo.
A Visitation will take place on Wednesday, December 26 from 5 PM to 9 PM at Roy Akers Funeral Home - 515 N. Main Ave., 78205 - with a Rosary to be recited at 7 PM. A Funeral Procession will depart from the funeral home at 9:30 AM for Funeral Mass at St. Ann's Catholic Church - 210 Saint Ann, 78201 - at 10 AM. Burial at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery - 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd., 78209 - will follow at 11:30 AM.
