MSGT (Retired) Raul S. Mendiola born on October 9, 1922 went to be with the Lord on July 30, 2021 at the age of 98. Raul enlisted in the United States Navy on May 8, 1943 and discharged on December 17, 1945, he then entered the Navy Reserves on March 15, 1948 and retired on September 3, 1958. He also served in the Air Force Reserves and retired on October 10, 1982. He is preceded in death by his wife Maria Luisa Mendiola, who were married on January 21, 1950 until her death on March 1, 1990; daughter, Elizabeth Mendiola Caballero ; son, Antonio R. Mendiola. He is survived by his children, Eva Mendiola Dodge, Raul Mendiola, Jr., Ray Mendiola wife Elva Mendiola, John Mendiola; 9 sisters and 4 bothers. Visitation will begin 5:00pm Monday, August 23, 2021 at Roy Akers, 515 N. Main Ave with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm. A procession will depart the funeral home at 9:30am Tuesday, August 24, 2021 for a 10:00 am Mass at San Juan de Los Lagos, 3231 El Paso Street. Interment to follow in Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
