Raquel Ramirez

Raquel Emilia Ramirez, of San Antonio, passed away at her home on Tuesday, January 23, 2018. She was born in Saspamco, Texas to Jesus and Margarita Hinojosa. She graduated from South San High School, and attended St. Mary’s University and the University of Mexico City. She spent her professional career as an executive secretary at Kelly Air Force Base. After retiring she enjoyed traveling abroad, and also visiting many states around the country. Raquel spent time working on her family’s ancestry, planting beautiful flowers in her yard, and participating until recently in her exercise class at the Senior Ministry at St. Luke Catholic Church.

Faith and family were very important to Raquel and she lived life surrounded by both. Raquel and Zaragosa’s home was always open to greet family and friends with wonderful hospitality and lots of laughter and reminiscing.

Raquel was preceded in death by her parents, Jesus and Margarita Hinojosa, and brother Hector Hinojosa. She is survived by her husband, Zaragosa Ramirez; sisters: Virginia Jimenez and Emma Payne; brother-in-law, Alfred Ramirez and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Senior Ministry at St. Luke Catholic Church in her memory.

Visitation will begin Sunday, February 11 at 6:00 p.m. at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be offered Monday, February 12 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church, 4603 Manitou Drive. Interment will follow at Ft. Sam Houston.
