Rachel Guerrero Benavides

Rachel Benavides entered eternal rest on March 21, 2017 at the age of 85. A native of San Antonio, Texas; she was born to Jose and Isabel Guerrero on January 30, 1932. She now reunites with her parents; brothers Ruben, Arnold, Joe and Lionel, and husband Genaro L. Benavides, Jr.

She grew up in a loving home on Salado Street, located close to downtown San Antonio. She attended Fox Tech High school. She met and married the love of her life, Genaro Leal Benavides, Jr. She worked downtown at Joske's several years, and then at the Marriott Hotel on the Riverwalk. She and Genaro enjoyed going out dancing each Friday and Saturday night until he passed away on March 23, 1997 at 67 years old.

She is survived by her son Jerry Davila; her two daughters, Martha “Marti” (Manuel "Memo") Garces and Elizabeth “Lisa” Benavides; grandson Steven Garces; granddaughters Alexia and Gianna “GiGi” Garces; Great-grandsons: Tyler and Cody Garces. She led a wonderful, happy long life and will certainly be remembered as being friendly to all she encountered.

The family will be receiving guests at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers Funeral Home 515 N. Main Ave San Antonio Tx, 78205 on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral procession will depart from the Funeral Home on April 5, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of the Resurrection at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church 617 S. Santa Rosa Rd. San Antonio Tx 78204, with burial to follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. Please express your sympathy and shared memories on the online guest book.
