Petra P. Chavez age 75, born December 4, 1943 passed away April 18, 2019. She is preceded in death by her Daughter Marjore Iris Chavez, parents Panfilo Sulema Perez, brother Joseph Perez, sister Zulema Fernandez, brother Jesus Perez. She is survived by her children Santos Paul Chavez III(Crystal), Raychael Chavez Coombes(Peter), Sarah Resendez(Jessie), sisters Victoria P. Sanchez, Theresa P. Hildbrand, Roselinda P. Garza(Raymond), grandchildren Andrue, Bridgette, Clarissa, Edward, Rick, Ashley, Jonathan, Logan, Drake, Jubilee, Samantha, Josephine, great granddaughter Rachel.
Recognized by the State of Texas and the President of the United States for several hours of volunteer work teaching GED classes. Volunteered teaching ESL classes. Recognized by the Mexican consulate for her contribution in teaching immigration classes and helping immigrants passed their citizenship exams. Avid crocheter. She donated blankets and hats she made to premature infants through a methodist church here in San Antonio. She also donated hats she made to cancer patients. She was a breast cancer survivor. She was a 3rd order Franciscan for 55 years. Cursillista since 2013. Taught religious classes, tutored math at Palo Alto college while also working on her own math degree, took piano and guitar lessons. Enjoyed socializing while attending the many activities at the good samaritan senior center. Love to playing games such as loteria, scrabble, Yahtzee, and Domino's. Enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her sisters, children, family and friends.
Funeral Service will be on Monday, April 22, 2019 Everyone is invited to meet 8:50 am at St. John Berchmans Catholic Church 1147 Cupples Road. San Antonio, Texas. 78226. A rosary will be recited at 9:00 am with a Mass of Resurrection to be celebrated at 10:00 am. Interment will be on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at San Fernando Cemetery III.
