Paula Flores Cardenas

Paula was a hard worker all her life. By the age of eight she had a major role in the raising of her siblings. She raised five children and later in life worked hard to own her first home. She worked housekeeping at Fort Sam Houston, Northeast Baptist Memorial Hospital, and numerous nursing homes, sometimes having as many as three jobs at one time.

Paula is preceded in death by two of her children, Rafael (Papito) Cardenas and Judith (Judi) Cardenas. She is survived by her children: Angel (Surefoot) Cardenas, Carmen (Suri) Thomas Harris, and Maria (Merci) Cardenas. Her grandchildren are Corey, Soraya, Rafael, Sarina, Shawntee, Gregory, Isaac, and Rebecca. Her great grandchildren are Justin, Alyssa, Jessica, Brianna, Yesenia, Jayson, Michael, Unique, and Phillip. She leaves five great-great grandchildren.

Paula was most proud of her family, her home and her garden and plants. She grew beautiful plants and flowers, especially roses in various colors. She loved birds and would often spend much of her time watching them feed in her back yard. She had a beautiful heart and soul. She will be missed profoundly by her family and friends.

A Memorial will be held for Paula Friday, July 15 at Saint Pius X Parish at 10:30 am. In honor of Paula’s love for flowers, guests are encouraged to wear floral attire.
