Paul William Wright, born February 5, 1923, went to be with the Lord on June 17, 2011 at the age of 88. He was born in Gage, Oklahoma and moved to Pearsall, Texas as a young child. He moved to San Antonio after graduating from Pearsall High School and went to work for the Texas Highway Department. From 1942 to 1945, he served his country in the United States Navy and afterwards went back to work for the Highway Department for over 35 years. Paul worked on his father-in-law’s cattle ranch part- time during those years with the Highway Department. He loved ranching so much that he went on to ranch full-time for many years following his retirement. Paul was a longtime member of Castle Hills Baptist Church and was extremely devoted to his family, always finding time to spend with his children and grandchildren. Paul was loved by many and will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Will and Eva Wright and his brother, John Wright. Survivors include his beloved wife of 66 years, Grace; brother, Conrad Wright and wife Dorothy; daughters, Emily Wright Mims and husband Charles and Betty Wright Gilton and husband Dennis; grandchildren, Charles William Mims, Brian Jay Mims, Scott Ryan Gilton, Thomas James Gilton, Matthew Lee Gilton; and great-grandchildren, Caleb William Mims and Tanner Lee Mims.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2011 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Sunset Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at 3:00PM at Sunset Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
