Paul "Pasach" B. Marcus, age 73, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his beloved wife and two cats on February 21, 2022, in San Antonio, Texas. Born in Detroit Michigan in 1948 to Symore and Rosalie Marcus,
He was preceded in death by his father Symore Marcus, and his stepfather Harry Melman. Paul was a loving husband and friend who will be dearly missed.
Paul is survived by his wife of 37 years, Kay Marcus, his mother Rosalie Melman, brothers Terry Melman, Chuck Melman, and Scott Marcus, and sister Cynthia Marcus.
Paul was active as a minister, having founded Alev Tav Messianic Ministry. He was born into a Jewish family. He liked to teach about Passover, bringing to life the Scriptures about Jesus' last supper, and being a bridge between the Christians and the Jews. He always wanted to go to Israel but regretfully never had the opportunity.
Paul grew up in Detroit and he enjoyed playing baseball. He was president of the young Democrats in high school. He was very interested in politics, and was always willing to engage in lucid discussions about sports, domestic and international policies especially having to do with Israel.
Paul was an alumnus of Northern Michigan University where he was the baseball statistician for the baseball club and wrote a sports column for the North Wind student paper. Paul later attended Oral Roberts University in Oklahoma with Kay.
Paul served in the Navy from 1968 during the Vietnam war as an "oceanographer" on Midway Island. His duties tracking submarines in the north Pacific were classified until 1991.
He was a journalist, as a sports writer for the Port Lavaca Wave prior to 1984.
