Paul Adam Gomez, age 57, passed away peacefully March 1, 2023. He was born May 29, 1965 in San Antonio, Texas to Guadalupe Fernando Gomez and Martha H. Canchola. He married his friend and love, Carol, on a June day and they built a family and cared for each other for 27 years. As a result of that love, they enjoyed and cherished two beautiful daughters Olivia Renee and Katherine Rebecca. As a son, husband, uncle, brother and friend, Paul would claim "Daddy" at the top of his list of joyful things in his life.
Paul loved all sports and at any given time you would find him watching or cheering on the Alamo Heights High School Mules and San Antonio Spurs. He was however, best known for his love of the Washington Redskins and heckling of the Dallas "Cowchokes". He likely owned every t-shirt, jacket, cap or other collectable with a Redskins logo and wore them, not only often, but with pride.
His other and probably greatest hobby and passion grew from his childhood watching cartoons, reading comics, going to see sci-fi movies and collecting everything related to superheroes, of which Batman was his favorite. Many weekend hours were spent with his brother setting up booths to sell and trade collectables. Unmistakably one of his greatest joys was sharing stories about the action figure itself and gifting them to his nephews and godson so they could build and love their own collections.
For many years Paul worked in the Home Health industry overseeing and managing the care of others. This fit his servant heart and he found joy in helping those who most needed it. He later used these skills to serve as primary caregiver for his mom. Although it meant sacrificing time with his own family, it was through their support that he held this role for many years with great love and honor.
If you were in a room with Paul you KNEW he was in the room with you. He was loud and proud as he told stories or shared jokes. He danced to tejano and country music and sang out loud. He would always ask how you were doing with genuine interest and care. He would lift a hand to help you without thinking twice. He worked hard and loved fiercely and you never doubted it. He will be missed.
Paul is survived in death by both his parents, his wife Carol and loving daughters Olivia and Katherine. He is also survived by his brother Manuel Gomez (Kristin) and half-siblings Juan Ignacio Gonzalez, Elizabeth Gomez, Matthew Gomez, Sarah Porter, Madivel Herrera and Yvette Gomez.
His memory will live on with his nephews Blayze G. Gomez, Devin R. Gomez, Michael J. Gomez, godson Gabriel C. Leal and niece Sofia A. Leal as well as countless relatives and friends who will always fondly remember his kindness, laughter and love.
