Patricia May Gittinger passed away on Thursday, October 19 2017 at the age of 93. She was born on April 15, 1924 in Charleston, West Virginia to Benjamin and Delish Melton. She is preceded in death by her parents, her 7 siblings and her loving husband, Alton Gittinger. She is survived by her children: Thomas Gittinger (Patricia), Michael Gittinger (Debra PID), and Paul Gittinger (Mary Mac). She leaves grandchildren Chris Landin, Debra Isbell, Andrew Gittinger, Kay Gittinger, Dara Moore, Michael John Gittinger (PID), Brian Gittinger, Michelle Autry, Gregory Gittinger; and, numerous great-grandchildren and many loving family member and friends. We will all miss MOM.
Patricia enjoyed being with her children and family members, these were her most happiest times. She was devoted to her church, St. Luke’s Catholic Church, where she attended with Alton for 40 years. She was instrumental in the development of the Alter Society. She also enjoyed the neighborhood Garden Club, lunches with her friends and any drop in visitors.
She was lovingly cared for at the Gruene Senior Living in New Braunfels for the last 8 years. The family gives many thanks to all the staff for the kindness they extended to her during these difficult times. Kindred Hospice was also so kind in administering aid during her passing, so we also wish to thank them.
Visitation will begin on Monday, October 23, 2017 starting at 5 pm at Sunset Memorial Park and Funeral Home with a rosary Chaplet beginning at 7 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 10:00 am at St. Pius X Catholic Church concluding with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
