Pam was born on November 7, 1948, in Fairmont, West Virginia to John and Mildred Watkins. In 1974, she arrived in San Antonio where she met and married her loving husband Kevin Tobias in 1976. They raised three sons Mark, Jason, Craig, and daughter Amanda.
Pam was saved in Christ and had been a longtime member of MacArthur Park Church of Christ. All her life she was a devout Christian and a student of God’s word serving as an example to all who got to know her. She worked for many years in education where she had a profound impact on many of her students, not only in academics but also in how to live a Christian life. Even after several years into her retirement, former students have kept in touch with her.
A deeply creative and artistic person, she enjoyed a passion for painting with oil and acrylic, developing a special talent for portraits. Family was a big part of her life, and she showered love and kindness to her children and grandsons. Always making holidays and birthdays extra special occasions, she also photographed every family event and celebration. A symbol of strength and an inspiration to others, Pam overcame numerous health challenges in her lifetime and now her pain and struggles are over. Her loss leaves a huge void in the hearts of those she left behind as she will be deeply missed.
Pam is preceded in death by her father, John F. Watkins, and her mother, Mildred (Garner) Watkins. She is survived by her husband, Kevin, her four children, Mark (Chris), Jason, Craig, and Amanda, grandsons Andrew, Bronson, and Danny, her sister Lynnette, brother John, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, November 7th at Sunset Funeral Home. A funeral service will be taking place Tuesday, November 8th at MacArthur Park Church of Christ at 10 a.m. with burial following at Delgado Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that small donations be made to Pam’s longtime favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
