Pablo Z. Martinez went to be with the Lord on June 29, 2020 at the age of 93. He was born on January 10, 1927. He is preceded in death by his wife, Josefina Martinez and son, Fermin Martinez; parents, Pablo and Apolonia Martinez; Brothers Tomas, Angel, Max, Joe and sisters Ceferina Flores, Sara Castillo, and Hilaria Martinez.
He is survived by his daughters – Rachel, Mary Jeanette Lara (Gabriel), Rosemary Martinez, Margaret Mendoza (Benito), sons - Mark Martinez, Paul Martinez, III (Becky), and brother John Martinez. He had 18 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Pablo Z. Martinez was born and lived on San Antonio’s Westside. He graduated from Sidney Lanier High School (1945). He served his country in World War II and worked as a civil servant at Kelly AFB for 35 years.
Pablo dedicated his life to family and community. He embodied a Christian ideal of neighbor. He was a pillar of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church. His dedication and hard work brought opportunity to his family, friends, and neighbors. He was a good son, husband, father, brother, tio, padrino, friend, colleague, and coach. His memory will live on through the many lives that he touched. Dad will be missed but his legacy will live in our hearts, just like mom’s, as we gather as family, friends, and neighbors.
