"I'm so close to creating something so close to myself. Already I have one who heals herself when she is sick...can feed a family of six on one pound of hamburger...and can get a nine year old to stand under a shower." Said God.—Erma Bombeck
On October 17, 2016 Olga Samora left this life to join her family and friends in Heaven. A loyal wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister, and best friend—Olga touched the lives of everyone she met. Samora entered this world on December 4, 1948. She called San Antonio her home her entire life. Olga attended local schools and impressed upon her son the value of an education.
As a devoted mother, she worked full time, completed her Associates Degree, and raised a son. Olga met the love of her life—Lucas Samora and remained committed in marriage until her death.
Olga believed in supporting the community. For years she was a volunteer softball coach for St. Matthew’s Catholic Church. She participated in fundraisers for local organizations, she assisted with the care for her grandchildren, and she offered assistance and advice to those she met on a daily basis.
Olga understood the value of hard work. She worked for AT & T before accepting a position with USAA. She retired from USAA and wanting to fill the void in her time accepted a position as a Teacher’s Aide at Northside ISD. Olga wanted to help mentor children and encourage them to achieve their dreams and aspirations.
Family remained her priority. She loved each of her grandchildren greatly and attended their sporting and extracurricular events even when bound to a wheelchair. She recognized her friends and family during holidays, birthdays, and anniversaries. Her touching words will be greatly missed by all.
Her husband, Lucas Samora, son Manuel Lozano, Jr. and wife Debbie survive Samora. She is also survived by older brother Jesse Rodriguez and wife Stella, younger brother Salamon Garcia, and younger sisters Tina Gonzales and husband Juan Carlos, Emma Rodriguez and husband Alfredo, and Linda Santos and husband Alfred Santos. She had two stepchildren Patrick Samora and Naomi Vitela and four grandchildren, Joshua and Hannah Lozano, and Joey and Jamie Vitela.
“My mother... she is beautiful, softened at the edges and tempered with a spine of steel. I want to grow old and be like her.”
― Jodi Picoult
Her family, friends, and neighbors will miss Olga’s strength and love of life.
