Norma Menn Rilling went home to the Lord on October 27, 2012, in San Antonio, TX. She was born on February 18, 1923 in Lincoln, TX to Ferdinand C. and Alvina W. Menn. She was Valedictorian of the Bishop High School Class of 1940, and after graduating from the Alamo Business College worked at Ft. Sam Houston from 1942-1948. She married Donald L. Rilling in 1947 and enjoyed 55 years of marriage until his death in 2002. Norma was a lifelong Lutheran and volunteered many hours at St. John’s Lutheran Church in San Antonio since the 1940’s, teaching Sunday School for 20+ years and Vacation Bible School for 10 years; working as money counter for 30 years; and actively participating in several church groups. She also enjoyed flower gardening, sewing, baking, and family get-togethers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; siblings Viola Clinger, Herbert Menn, Sr., and Alvina Hill. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Rilling Bruns (Michael); granddaughter, Kimberly Bruns; sister, Hertha Kaiser, and numerous nieces, nephews and their children. Special thanks to GG, Maggie, Jun and others with Texas Comfort Care Home for their care of Norma this past year. Visitation will be on Thursday, November 1, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will be at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, November 2, 2012 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
