Nancy attended Grade school at St. Mary Magdalen’s where she was active in track and girl scouts. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and was a chapter officer. Nancy attended Providence High School 75-78. She was an excellent student with artistic talents and enjoyed taking French classes. She was a top soprano in the Marian Choristers and enjoyed singing Madrigals. Her musical talents took her to several choral competitions throughout high school. In more recent years her happy voice was always joined with the rest of the family in singing old girl scout songs, church hymns, and popular radio tunes at many family gatherings and campfire sing-alongs.
Nancy was gifted in so many ways and the sweetest kind-hearted lady ever. As the middle child of 9 siblings, she was quite often the “Peace Keeper” of the bunch. Her dedication to her family was unquestionably her top priority, raising 3 children, and assisting with the raising of her grandchildren, as well as being hostess to huge family gatherings for Easter, Christmas, and other events. While she did enjoy camping, her favorite past time was fishing. No matter how big or small her catch of the day was it was the best times of her life. She enjoyed watching the little red and white bobber float on the water; it was relaxing for her.
Nancy worked at State Auto Insurance for over 25 years, on the East Side of town until her company closed the office. She then went to work for State Farm Insurance for 15 more years working for four different agents. She spent the last three years of her life at home where she enjoyed painting yard statues for herself and others. She also enjoyed watching her husband work with their registered Texas Longhorn Cattle on the ranch. Nancy could sit for hours watching the Koi fish in the pond her husband built for her.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and two of her brother’s, Joseph Edward Spill and Mark Steven Spill Sr., her in-laws Corine and Glen Phillips, and niece Katherine Lemmon. Nancy is survived by her husband Michael Roy Phillips and her children Jessica Phillips, Michael Roy Phillips II and Joseph Phillips;
