Nancy J. Franklin, 87, died on January 29, 2011. She will be missed by her family and friends. She was born on December 30, 1923, in Providence, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Karrie and Lou Jefferson. She had one brother, Edward Jefferson. She attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri and Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky. She married Charles “Ben” Franklin on May 18, 1944. Her beloved Charles preceded her in death in 2003. Nancy had a passion for art. She spent many hours painting in and around San Antonio. She earned many awards and friends in the art community and belonged to the Texas Water Color Society and the National Water Color Society.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Marilyn Franklin, her daughter and son-in-law, Kathie and Jim Maner and her grandchildren Meredith and Brandon Franklin.
Services will be held Friday, February 4th at 12:15 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park and Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Hope Hospice of New Braunfels. The family is grateful to the staff of AlzCare of New Braunfels for the loving care that Nancy received during the final years of her life.
