Melvin F. Martinez, retired U.S. Air Force Major, passed away June 14, 2012 at the age of 68 years. He was a business manager for the San Antonio Catholic Archdiocese and also a Program Analysis at Ft. Sam Houston for the Psychological Health and Brain Injurys. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Joyce Martinez; children, Candace Femano and husband Rocco, Michael Dontonville, Melinda Wallauer and husband Curtis, Christy Dedear, Matthew Martinez and wife Shayla; 12 grandchildren; sisters, Juanita Coutee and Neva Lewis; brother, Dale Martinez; brother-in-law, Dan Lachenman and wife Jennifer; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home on Bandera Road on Thursday, June 21, 2012 from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with at rosary at 7:00 P.M. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 12:00 P.M. Friday, June 22, 2012 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 7893 N. Grissom Rd with Rev. Joe Wagner officiating. Melvin accomplished everything he set out to do. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with U.S. Air Force military honors. In lieu flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project
