Passed in peace, Melissa Ann Rios, 50, beloved daughter, sister, and friend has reunited with her Lord Savior on Wednesday, April 21, 2021. She was born December 14, 1970 and was a lifelong resident of San Antonio, Texas. Melissa attended St. James Catholic School and graduated from Providence Catholic High School and St. Philip’s College.
In college she was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa and proudly held the office of President. She was a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor society and was named a member of Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities. She was passionate and fascinated with both astronomy and chemistry and was always ready to continue learning. She enjoyed her journey and research at the Public Health Command Region-South DoD Food Analysis & Diagnostic Laboratory at Fort Sam Houston.
Melissa was a loving, brilliant, and bright soul. Since a young age, she had many aspirations, goals, and dreams that she had wanted to accomplish. She wanted to explore the world and learn from all walks of life and cultures. Whenever she would set a goal, she made sure to achieve it. Even though her life voyage was cut short, she made sure to live each waking moment to its fullest potential the best she could. When her journey was lead in a different path due to her health issues, she began to fully see the world through different eyes. She started to understand that she was meant to take things slower and embrace everyone that crossed her path. She never viewed any of her ailments as burdens or allowed anyone that was near and dear to her to know how much pain she truly was in. She always found that silver lining and managed to turn a negative event into something positive and also educational. No matter the pain she was in, she always had the cutest jokes that would get anyone to laugh. She was such a free spirit and in love with nature.
Melissa loved being around people. We always called her a social butterfly. Her patience was long and her passion for listening to people’s life stories was longer. Our beautiful Earth Angel tried her best to help out as many people as she could. Never have we met such a selfless soul as hers. She is viewed as the sturdy foundation and rock for many of her loved ones. She lived her life in a humble and peaceful manner. Always trying to spread joy, warmth, and pure love to everyone that she spoke to. She will always bring us many smiles and passion in our hearts and souls as we continue to remember her throughout the remainder of our lives. Our beautiful Melly, can now soar high and be the free spirit she was meant to be.
Our sweet Melissa was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents: Alberto and Albeza Sanchez; paternal grandparents: Jesse and Maria Luisa Rios; Aunt: Ana Munoz and her husband Esteban; Uncle: Fernandez Rios and his wife Gloria.
She is survived by her parents, Guillermo M. and Alicia C.
