Mary Jane Spivey

Mary Jane (Marzluff) Spivey, age 72, returned to the arms of her Savior, surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, April 7, 2018. She was born January 29, 1946 in San Antonio, Texas to the late Charles Lewis and Anna Ruth (Strong) Marzluff.

She married the late Billy Ray Spivey, January of 1964.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister and friend. She was the life of the party; remembered as a hysterically funny woman. She was a woman with a strong will and determination. She loved cooking and enjoyed catering; supporting the Kirby Little League through various fund raisers and serving on their board.

She retired from the Department of Emergency Management with the San Antonio Fire Department, supporting several Fire Chiefs; after her retirement, she worked with FEMA, supporting relief efforts after Hurricane Katrina and other natural disasters.

She is preceded in death by her son, Billy C. Spivey; and grandson, Cory Dillon.

She is survived by her children, Sherry Spivey Hartsfield, Jody Spivey; grandchildren, Christopher, Coby, Samantha (Charlie Yates), Logan; great grandchildren, Lily, Chasyn; siblings, Ann Kondoff, Nancy Yarbrough; numerous nieces and nephews, and many close friends she considered family.

Family is receiving friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at 11:00 am. Memorial Services will be conducted at 12:00 pm with Pastor Gene Loeffler, officiating. Family reception will immediately follow services at 1:00 p.m.

Inurnment services will be conducted at a later date.
