Marvin served his church for two years as a missionary in North and South Dakota. After his mission, he courted and married Karen Price (MaryEliza Sturrock) on August 8th, 1980 in the Salt Lake City temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They were blessed with three children, Clark, Kevin, and Julianne (Lia) Harris. They raised their family in Houston, Texas and in Connecticut where Marvin worked using the skills he developed in electronics, in teaching, and providing customer service.
Over the years, Marvin served his church as a Bishop, Bishop’s counselor, young men’s leader, member of the High Council, and in many other callings. He always did his best to be a friend to others and to treat them with respect. His deep devotion to Jesus Christ was a guiding principle in his life.
At about age 4, Marvin and his family moved to San Antonio Texas where he grew up and attended Will Rogers Elementary, Mark Twain Jr. High, and Edison High School. While at Edison Marvin took a radio and TV repair class where he learned electronics which led to his career path.
Marvin loved being in the outdoors. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and hiking whenever the occasion allowed. During his time in Connecticut, he explored areas of interest in several of the surrounding states.
He was involved in the Boy Scouts of America for most of his life. He achieved the rank of Life Scout and was a member of the Order of the Arrow. He served as a Scoutmaster, Committee member, and in other roles as an adult. He enjoyed teaching the youth and helping them to succeed.
Marvin was known and loved by many for his kindness, his gentle nature, and his willingness to serve others.
He is preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife and children, grandchildren (Olivia and Sophia) and his brother David (wife Sylvia).
Funeral services and interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park, 1701 Austin Hwy, San Antonio, Tx. on December 29, 2021.
