Marvin (who was affectionately known as Benny to family and friends) was born on March 4, 1945, to Marvin Hall Bennett, Sr., and Joan Susan Storkamp in Kingman, Arizona. Benny, graduated from Sam Houston High School in San Antonio, Class of 63.
After graduation, Benny enlisted in the United States Army National Guard for 6 years and also worked for Sears and Roebuck Company for over 35 years. After his retirement, Benny got involved with his neighborhood home owners association. He was the president of the Deer Ridge Estates HOA in La Vernia, Texas, for several years.
Benny and the love of his life, Melinda, were neighbors growing up. They married in 1972 and had two children, Paul and Robin.
Benny was so many things to so many people. He was a great story teller and everyone loved to hear his stories. He liked to tell jokes and show off his magic tricks. He was definitely a talker and one of the kindest men you would ever meet. He loved to hunt and fish with his father, brother and son. He could BBQ and cook anything you could ever want, and he loved to eat. If you asked him for directions, they would be based on restaurants you'd pass along the way.
He had a wonderful talent for fixing anything. He enjoyed casinos, scratch off tickets, playing the lotto and canvassing garage sales. He took great pride in his family, his home and his yellow truck. Benny’s kids were his heart, pride and joy and his grandkids were his sunshine and his greatest blessings!
Benny is survived by his wife, Melinda of 48 years; his children, Paul Bennett (Missy) and Robin Bennett-Castro; Grandchildren, Jaclyn, Anthony, Kailyn, Kinsey, Jayden; his brother, Jeffrey Bennett (Diana); his sister, Carol Bennett Flanigan (Stephen), and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Marvin and Joan.
