Martin P. Rivera entered into eternal rest on November 21, 2023. Martin was born in San Antonio, TX on December 21, 1953 to Baleriano Sr. and Guadalupe Rivera. Martin met the love of his life, Raquel, during their high school years at John F. Kennedy High School. They were married on August 9, 1975, and from that day forward have lived a life of love, laughter, and family.
Martin, or Marty as he was better known, worked early as a nurses aide, but soon found his career at Southwestern Bell. He remained dedicated to the company for over twenty years. He rose through the ranks and retired as a Director of Marketing.
In Marty's spare time he loved to listen to music and sing his own lyrics to some of his favorite songs. Along with music, he kept busy with his two boys and their activities. He coached their sports, drove to band events, and supported the boys in all their endeavors. Marty and Rachel enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas together, yearly family trips to the coast, and visiting the Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan del Valle in San Juan, TX.
Marty and Rachel instilled strong family values in their sons. Their house was a center for barbeques, parties, and extended family get togethers. Marty would want to be remembered for being a shoulder to lean on, enjoying a Hershey's Kiss in the candy bowl, and for sharing a good joke with anyone who would listen.
Martin is preceded in death by his parents Baleriano Sr. and Guadalupe Rivera, and mother-in-law Agustina Garcia. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Raquel, his two sons Adrian (Angela) and Andrew (Trisha), two grandchildren, Evan and Marissa; brothers Baleriano Jr. (Sandi) and Rogelio; sisters Angelina Osio and Linda Ann Rivera (Charlie); father-in-law Willie Garcia.
