Maria Elena Suarez of San Antonio entered into rest on April 20, 2012 at the age of 55. She was born May 8, 1956 in Bronx, New York to parents, Efrain Suarez and Iris Rodriguez. Maria proudly served her country as a nurse in the US Army, and retired as a 1st Lieutenant. Maria was also a breast cancer survivor. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Iris and her sister, Sandra Melendez. Maria leaves behind to cherish her memory her dear friend and partner, Michelle Almaraz; her children, Angel R. Collazo, Roxanne M. Lockhart and Daniel C. Pinkstaff; 10 grandchildren; sisters, Mildred Orts and Evelyn Melendez; brother, Engracio Melendez, Jr. and numerous other family members and friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 25, 2012 from 5-9pm at Sunset Funeral Chapel with a rosary to be recited at 7pm. Funeral services will be Thursday, April 26, 2012 at 12:30pm at the funeral home with burial to follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
