Born in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico. She was the oldest daughter of 10 children of Higinio De Hoyos Garcia and Maria Chavez De Garcia. At an early age, Olivia began helping her mother care for younger brothers and sisters and therefore was only able to go to school until the third grade. However, not being able to complete school did not deter her from being successful and accomplishing many things in her life. Helping with her siblings was something she took great pride in and she continued in that role selflessly for her entire life. Her family always came first, no matter what! She moved to San Antonio, Texas in hopes of better opportunities and to bring her family at some point. She faced many hardships, made many sacrifices, but always remained determined and didn’t give up on her dreams. She was successful in bringing her entire family to live in San Antonio. She was never afraid of a challenge, there was nothing she would not do or try. She worked for Butter Crust as a factory worker, and also worked many years as a housekeeper.
She enjoyed cooking, traveling to Mexico and never wanted to miss any parties. She was a devout Catholic and always strong in her faith.
