Maria Teresa Lopez

Maria Teresa (Cortez) Lopez, age 75, of San Antonio, died peacefully on Monday, June 4, 2018 surrounded by her family at home. She was born, October 9, 1942, to the late Jose and Maria (Armenta) Cortez, in Silao, Guanajuato, Mexico. She worked at the local movie theatre, her family’s business and helped care for her younger siblings.

Tere married Rafael Lopez on January 4, 1969, a short time later, they moved to San Antonio, Texas where they began growing their own family.

She became a homemaker for her three children, Joe, Monica and Barbie. Tere enjoyed going to Church, spending time with family in Mexico, California and Texas, reading the paper and listening to music by Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley. Her favorite vacations included trips to Las Vegas with Rafa and friends. She and Rafa were married for 42 loving and humorous years, before Rafael’s passing in 2012.

Tere will be remembered for her love of God and family. She will also be remembered for her amazing strength and courage.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rafael Lopez; and siblings, Jesus, Jose and Josefina Cortez Armenta.

She is survived by her children; Joe Lopez and his wife Andrea, Monica and husband Warren Titerle, Barbie and husband Chris Cykowski; grandchildren, Ren, Kai and Jade Ellery Lopez, Kendall and his wife Brianna, Aubrie and Kurtis Titerle, Jake and Reagan Cykowski; first great grandchild, Levi Emmitt Titerle; numerous extended family members and close friends she considered family.

The family will be receiving friends with a catered reception in the hospitality suite at the funeral home on Thursday, June 7, 2018 from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm. A reading of Eulogies will begin at 6:30 pm in the funeral home chapel. Reciting of the Rosary will commence at 7:00 pm. A Memorial Mass will be conducted on Friday, June 8, 2018 at 11:00 am at St. Monica Catholic Church, 501 North Street, Converse, Texas 78109.
