Maria Gloria Contreras, age 90, of San Antonio, Texas passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2023. She was born January 9, 1933 in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico to Esperanza and Tomas Espinoza. She was a hard worker and worked at Santa Rosa Hospital in housekeeping for many years. Maria Gloria met her husband when they were kids and loved to go dancing at social clubs. She enjoyed to play volleyball, watch soccer and to eat BBQ with her family.
Maria Gloria is preceded in death by both of her parents; her step father, Victor Hinojosa; her husband of 69 years, Juan L. Contreras; her daughter Leticia; her great grandson, James Garza; and her brothers, Jesus, Esteban, and Victor Hugo. She is survived by her children; Rosa (Armando), Raul (Lucy), Juan (Frances), Oscar (Cecilia), Esperanza (Ernest), and Alvaro (Blanca); her brother, Javier Hinojosa; her sisters, Irma Lerma and Alma Rosa Garza; as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
A visitation for Maria will be held Monday, May 15, 2023 at 5:00 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers, 515 North Main Ave, San Antonio, TX 78205. A funeral procession will depart at 10:00 AM the following morning, Tuesday, May 16, 2023, for a funeral mass at 10:30 AM at St. Jude Catholic Church, 130 S San Augustine St, San Antonio, TX 78237. Burial will follow at San Fernando #3 Cemetery, 1735 Cupples Rd, San Antonio, TX 78226.
